Quality filling

The source is important: only the finest feathers are used in our cushions.

Using goose feathers alone does not guarantee the high quality of the finished product. It is essential to know their origin and the processes they undergo, from selection to treatment and purification.

Cinelli does not use feathers from Asia in its production processes, as these are often characterised by a lower market price and, above all, inferior quality compared to feathers from Europe.

A bird’s plumage also depends on its habitat. Consequently, feathers and down from colder environments are often much more developed than those from more temperate climates.

To obtain the highest quality feathers and create finished products of absolute and unrivalled excellence, Cinelli’s factories sacrifice up to 40% of each batch of raw material.

Furnishing pillows

Pillows as decorative accessories made from down for a refined home

Pillows, authentic decorative elements, bring the softness of feathers to your living room and sofa. They offer excellent opportunities for relaxation and create a welcoming, sophisticated atmosphere. Modern designs revisit classic shapes (rectangular, square and round) to create luxury accessories that can revitalise the décor of an entire room. Natural, meticulously selected materials combine the elegance of handcrafted furnishings with functionality.

Cinelli creates the finest and most sophisticated filling solutions for high-quality sofas and cushions. We primarily use our carefully selected down, but we also make the most of other materials, such as fibre and memory foam, to achieve surprising results in terms of softness, insulation, comfort and durability. The 100% pure cotton outer fabric ensures excellent breathability, and the tight weave prevents feathers and down from escaping.

Feathers and more: a variety of options for quality sofas

The method used to create Cinelli sofa cushions ensures quality and durability over time: they are constructed with channels or square chambers which are filled and then closed to create independent compartments. This ensures that the feathers remain in place and last longer. This production method also allows the individual chambers to be filled to varying degrees, creating areas of the cushion with different levels of support and significantly reducing the need to fluff the cushion, unlike with normal feather cushions.

Goose down retains its elasticity over time. For its down pillows, Cinelli uses the highest quality feathers, which are then mixed together to achieve softness, insulation and comfort. To further customise the product, tailor-made feather blends are developed for different uses, such as seat cushions, backrests, optional cushions and armrest cushions, which can provide different levels of support and feel based on customer requests. Other materials are also used to fill the cushions, either mixed with goose down or on their own, such as polyester fibre flakes, ground polyurethane, latex pellets and Memory Foam granules.

To increase the cushion’s support, a computer-cut polyurethane core can be used, either on its own or in combination with steel springs.

Types of Pillow

Down

Pillows without an insert

Pillows with chambers or channels filled with natural or mixed down.

The level of support and comfort can be varied by adjusting the type and quantity of filling material blown into the individual chambers.

Resipiuma

Pillows without an insert

A pillow with a non-deformable polyurethane foam core. Different densities of polyurethane foam can be used, even in combination, to provide varying levels of support.

The core is wrapped in a quilt that can be filled with soft down or other filling materials.

Piuma Relax

Pillows with an insert and springs

This pillow has a non-deformable polyurethane foam core that is perforated with harmonic steel springs. The support can be differentiated by adjusting both the polyurethane and the diameter of the steel wire of the springs. The core is wrapped in a quilt that can be filled with soft down or other filling materials.

How we make our pillows

Down

The down is divided into two, three or more parallel channels. Each channel is closed and independent of the others, but the down can move freely along the channel. In cushions subject to particular compression, periodic shaking is necessary to restore the correct distribution of the filling. It is mainly used for backrests. It is a simple and economical solution that is also of high quality.

Spiderweb

The partitions of the ‘peripheral’ chambers radiate outwards from the corners of the central compartment.

This construction method localises the filling material more precisely than the channel type, ensuring the padding remains evenly distributed over time.

This makes it ideal for enhancing the curvature of the cushion and stabilising the distribution of the filling.

Box-wall

This is an evolution of the channel construction method.

Each channel is divided by transverse partitions to create squares.

This allows the filling to be localised, ensuring that the filling is distributed evenly over time.

This provides optimal support and gives the filling a neat, effective ‘regularity’ effect.
